It’s been quite an eventful first year for the DC Official Discord, which opened to the public on July 15th as a brand-new way for DC fans to connect with each other. We’ve had exclusive Q&As with the likes of Scott Snyder and Ram V, hotly competitive weekly games of trivia every Thursday, and an unforeseen but honestly quite welcome takeover of our spoiler channel by…Stephanie Brown fans. The DC Discord is percolating plenty of new ways to connect fans with DC in the year to come. And to start us off, we decided to invite our members to vote on their own highlights of 2024—crowning those worthy of our end-of-year superlatives in fifteen different categories.

You can see the winners below. Want to get in on the action next time? Join the DC Discord now! We’re always cooking up something you won’t want to miss.

BIGGEST GLOW UP: SOFIA GIGANTE

No DC character has seen their stock rise higher this year than Sofia Falcone. Formerly known only as a roughneck serial killing heir to a Gotham crime family in Batman: Dark Victory, this year’s Penguin series saw Sofia elevated to new heights through a stunning portrayal by Cristin Milioti of unexplored depths, breathtaking outfit changes which stole story after story, and a truly devastating eyeliner game.

MOST IN NEED OF A HUG: JASON TODD

Poor Jason. This year’s surprise miniseries From the DC Vault: Death in the Family: Robin Lives! finally gave us a long-deferred glimpse into what might have happened if that fateful vote went another way, and he survived the Joker’s attack in the original 1988 event…only to discover a fate in store for him that may have been worse than death. This kid just can’t catch a freaking break.

CUTEST COUPLE: SUPERMAN AND LOIS LANE

Whether we’re talking their heaven-piercing partnership in My Adventures with Superman, the life-long romance of the Superman & Lois finale, the couple of steel taking to the skies together in the All In era of Superman, or just that breathtaking Rachel Brosnahan and David Corenswet kiss in the new Superman trailer, 2024 was a year for Clois shippers all around. No matter the universe, you gotta love their love.

BIGGEST DRAMA QUEEN: BATMAN

Honestly, a category the Dark Knight has on lock pretty much every year. To say this has been an eventful year for Bruce is almost redundant, in that he probably has the busiest calendar of any superhero on the market. And yet, between his bouts protecting Gotham night after night, the Caped Crusader has never given up on his one, truest passion: brooding.

BEST SHOULDER TO CRY ON: NIGHTWING

Don’t cry because it’s over, smile, because it’s never the end. Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo’s award-racking run on Nightwing came to an emotional swell of a conclusion this year, firmly ensconcing Batman’s eldest son as the Bat who stands most for hope. If you need to turn to any hero in your darkest hour, Dick Grayson is more than just a pretty face. He’ll help you find your reason to soar again.

MOST CHARMING SUPER-VILLAIN: OZ COBB

Who else could fast-talk his way from the underworld’s biggest open joke to the king of Gotham? Sure, Oz may not be easy to look at. But give him twelve seconds and he’ll suss out exactly what you want to hear that’ll have you giving up everything you’ve got. Just don’t get too close.

MOST VILLAINOUS: FAILSAFE

One of the chief antagonists of both Chip Zdarsky’s Batman saga and the Absolute Power event this year, Failsafe is an unstoppable robot designed by Batman to take down the biggest threat to the DC Universe should it ever need to be done—Batman himself. But without Alfred around to manage its parameters, Failsafe was activated prematurely. Now, it cannot be stopped until Bruce Wayne is dead and Batman alone is forever.

TV FAVORITE: MY ADVENTURES WITH SUPERMAN

2024 has been a year of stellar DCTV. The Golden Globe and Critics Choice-nominated Penguin, Dead Boy Detectives, Batman: Caped Crusader, Creature Commandos, Suicide Squad ISEKAI and the final season of Superman & Lois have all well earned some truly passionate fans. But our community’s favorite this year goes to My Adventures with Superman, a perennial crowd pleaser now working on its third season. For the past three years, the Batman: Wayne Family Adventures WEBTOON has been providing Bat-fans with a feel-good take on their group of Gotham faves. MAWS has similarly evolved to fill that niche for Metropolis.

SPOOKIEST: RAVEN

This year hasn’t been without its share of frightening spooks and ghouls. But when you get right down to it, there’s two kinds of spooky: the kind of spooky you run from screaming, and the kind of spooky that draws you in. The kind that will probably drag you to Hell, but you can’t help but need to know more. Raven’s been a reigning champ as DC’s Queen of Spooky since 2003.

BEST ANIMAL FRIEND: BITEWING

The world may be weak at the knees over Krypto this Christmas, but Dick Grayson’s faithful three-legged puppy has been holding the fort down all year in Nightwing. Despite a particular oral fixation that gave Haley her “secret identity,” no one would deny that Bitewing is a very good girl.

BEST DRESSED: ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN

The DC trinity all got some hard as hell new looks for this year’s debut of the Absolute line. But as much as we admire the Batman Who Lifts, nobody came out of 2024 looking hotter than Wonder Woman. A sleeve of tattoos down one bare arm and a sword roughly four times as big as common sense would allow are the fashion accessories of the year. This is the walk of the night, people.

BEST SUPER TEAM/FAMILY: THE BAT-FAMILY

Honestly, this should be no surprise. #gotham-city is inarguably the most active channel in our Discord server, and everyone has an opinion on the Wayne Family and their…well, adventures. There’s no hotter place to make your argument for which Robin is best. (It’s Jason, by the way.)

BEST HAIR: LOIS LANE (MY ADVENTURES WITH SUPERMAN)

Imagine us slamming the table with our fists right now chanting, “PIXIE CUT! PIXIE CUT! PIXIE CUT!” Because that’s how we felt every time Lois graced the screen this season of My Adventures with Superman. Lois makes practically any hairstyle look good, but our Tomboy Lois makes for such an irresistible match with our Himbo Clark.

PROBABLY SMELLIEST: SOLOMON GRUNDY

We gotta side with the fans on this one. He’s a rotting corpse who lives in swamps and sewers. It’s hard to imagine anyone stinkier in the DC Universe, really. Unless next year, someone puts out a comic that, like, I don’t know, literally smells like farts when you rub it. But who would do something like that?

Hey, has anyone seen Harley Quinn?

MOST LIKELY TO BECOME PRESIDENT: LEX LUTHOR

Well, in our community’s defense…he, uh…has done it before. And honestly, if you read through his term in office, Lex Luthor…didn’t do too bad a job? At least, not until he lost it near the end in a Venom-fueled psychotic break and burned all his political capital to take down Batman and Superman. That didn’t go so well. But, hey. He wouldn’t be our worst president. (That’s right. Looking at you, James Buchanan.)
